Helping to Succeed
The “Right Fit Major” is incredibly important because it drives so many other decisions in a person's career.
To begin with, the selected Major should advance individuals towards their career aspirations. At a minimum, it should not appear as a sidetrack.
A student’s single Major or double-Major selection is one of the first questions an employer asks during an interview. It often forms the basis for how the employer perceives the candidate.
For example, take a theatre major applying for a corporate sales position. It is inevitable that the recruiter will ask why the candidate was a theater major, rather than a business major.
This is not to say theatre majors can’t be successful in sales, but a student must be able to answer this likely question during an interview.
